A1 Croatia is starting the process of shutting down its 3G network, in line with global trends and its commitment to providing users with the best experience. The shutdown will begin in February 2025 for users in the city of Požega and the Požega Valley, with further phases of the shutdown taking place gradually across Croatia. The full transition to 4G and 5G networks, which offer more advanced and energy-efficient technologies, is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. A1 Croatia will keep its users informed about the upcoming changes to the 3G network.
The shutdown of the 3G network will allow users to switch to faster, more reliable, and energy-efficient 4G and 5G technologies, providing higher speeds, better quality, and improved data transmission stability. This transition aligns with A1 Croatia's goal to offer the best services while utilizing the most sustainable technological solutions. The company is working towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2030 through smart solutions and network modernization.
Users with devices supporting only 2G and 3G networks will still be able to use voice and SMS services through the 2G network after the 3G shutdown. However, internet services will depend on the capabilities of the 2G network. Users with 3G-only devices who do not upgrade to 4G or 5G-compatible devices in time will lose internet service after the 3G network is turned off. Customers with older devices that do not support 4G or 5G networks can switch to a new device for faster internet and an improved user experience. Additionally, users with devices supporting 4G or 5G networks but using older SIM cards can get a free SIM replacement at A1 branches.
