Jazz, the leading digital operator in Pakistan and a subsidiary of VEON, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Engro Connect, a subsidiary of Engro Corporation, to enhance Pakistan’s telecommunications infrastructure and fast-track the country’s digital transformation.
Under this agreement, Jazz’s infrastructure assets, managed by its subsidiary Deodar (Private) Limited, will be integrated with Engro Connect through a regulatory-compliant scheme of arrangement. Jazz will continue to benefit from Deodar’s extensive infrastructure portfolio through a long-term lease agreement, ensuring the uninterrupted provision of mobile voice and data services across the nation.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in Jazz’s transformation into a fully digital ServiceCo, in alignment with VEON’s asset-light strategy and focus on operational efficiency. By reallocating resources, Jazz aims to expand its portfolio in areas such as fintech, entertainment, cloud services, data centers, and insure-tech, while fostering inclusion and providing communities with innovative digital solutions.
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, commented, “This collaboration reinforces our mission to drive Pakistan’s digital transformation. Partnering with Engro Connect allows us to enhance our ability to deliver world-class services and empower millions of Pakistanis with seamless connectivity.”
Abdul Samad Dawood, director of Engro Corporation, added, “This partnership capitalizes on Engro’s infrastructure expertise to provide affordable, high-quality connectivity, supporting progress within the telecom ecosystem and empowering local communities.” Together, Jazz and Engro Connect reaffirm their shared commitment to driving innovation and creating sustainable value, paving the way for a digitally empowered Pakistan.
