Telecom providers expected to strengthen Indonesia's digital infra

elecommunications network providers will play an important role in building and strengthening digital infrastructure in Indonesia, according to an official at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.

On the sidelines of the "Dedicating NOC Fiber Asianet for Indonesia" event in Jakarta on Thursday, Aju Widya Sari, Director of Telecommunications at the ministry, said that this role aligns with Indonesia’s Digital 2045 vision.

She expressed hope that telecommunications networks across all regions will become more evenly distributed and offer consistent quality.

Sari said that this is an important step in bridging the gap in internet access, especially in rural areas, households, and schools that have been difficult to reach with digital infrastructure so far.

She also emphasized the importance of ensuring the availability of gigabit internet networks in urban areas and other priority regions.

This would enable broader technology penetration in the future. Accelerating the digital development strategy from both the supply and demand sides is crucial, she added.

Close collaboration with various parties and transparency in providing digital infrastructure services are key to building an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem, Sari remarked.

"Effective collaboration and maintained transparency are not only demands but also the foundation for creating a fair and equitable digital ecosystem," she stated.

Sari mentioned that successful digital innovation requires synergy between various stakeholders, including the government, service providers, the private sector, and the community.

Therefore, it is hoped that telecommunications network providers will open their fiber optic network service maps to the public and provide information about network coverage and changes in their offerings to customers, she added.

She then urged telecommunications network providers to establish easily accessible complaint channels for consumers and set up mechanisms for responding to and resolving complaints quickly.

With information transparency, consumers can make more informed choices when selecting the service provider that best suits their needs, while encouraging healthy competition in the digital infrastructure industry.

She explained that when digital infrastructure providers give transparent information about their services, consumers can make better decisions.

"This will certainly create a healthy business competition climate among digital infrastructure providers, where those who innovate will offer better services to consumers," she pointed out.
