In a significant step towards enhancing Egypt’s telecommunications infrastructure, Ericsson, the Swedish multinational networking and telecommunications company, has partnered with e& Egypt to implement 5G technology across the nation. This collaboration comes on the heels of the recent issuance of 5G telecom licenses by the Egyptian government to three major operators: Vodafone Egypt, Orange Egypt, and e& Egypt.
The Egyptian government raised approximately USD 675 million from the sale of these 5G service licenses to improve communication quality and expand network capacity throughout the country. Ericsson’s involvement in this initiative includes deploying its latest energy-efficient 5G portfolio, aimed at creating a robust network capable of accommodating various site types and traffic demands.
As part of this agreement, Ericsson will leverage its advanced 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) technology, including the Ericsson Radio System, to provide high-performance and reliable connectivity. The deployment is expected to deliver faster internet speeds, reduced latency, and enhanced network resilience, benefiting both consumers and businesses across Egypt.
