Digital transformation is crucial for revitalizing local economies and modernizing small businesses. By embracing digital solutions, these enterprises can enhance their efficiency and competitiveness in response to evolving market dynamics.
Telecom operator Orange Morocco has announced a strategic partnership with online commerce platform Chari.ma, aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of local retailers in Morocco.
“This partnership with Chari.ma reflects our commitment to supporting Morocco’s digital transformation. By equipping local Moroccan retailers with the most effective digital tools, we are helping to enhance the appeal of our digital ecosystem,” stated Hendrik Kasteel, CEO of Orange Morocco.
As part of this agreement, Chari.ma will integrate Orange’s services directly into its e-commerce app, offering retailers essential opportunities for growth and modernization. This initiative aligns with the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy, which aims to expand the digital economy and promote financial inclusion throughout the country.
This project comes at a time of strong growth in the local retail sector. According to data from 2023 provided by Minister of Industry and Commerce Ryad Mezzour, local retail accounts for 58% of the sector’s transactions, contributes to 6% of job opportunities, and represents 80% of sales points in Morocco. This collaboration is expected to enhance the competitiveness of small businesses and strengthen Morocco’s digital ecosystem by making digital tools more accessible and tailored to the needs of local retailers.
