ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) Philippines said that the first phase of operations for its upcoming STT Fairview 1 hyperscale data centre is on track to be ready for service by the second quarter of 2025.
First announced in May 2023, STT Fairview 1 – located in Quezon City – is planned to be the largest, most interconnected, sustainable, and carrier-neutral data centre campus in the Philippines, with over 83,000 square metres of gross floor area across four buildings. Upon completion, the facility will sport a total IT capacity of 124MW.
"We remain committed to delivering on our project timelines. Last year, we projected that STT Fairview would be ready in the first part of 2025, and we are on schedule to deliver the initial capacity by Q2 2025,” said Carlo Malana, president and CEO of STT GDC Philippines in a statement.
STT GDC Philippines – a joint venture between Singapore-based STT GDC, Globe Telecom and Ayala Corporation – said STT Fairview 1 is designed to accelerate the country’s digital transformation and meet the rising demand for artificial intelligence (AI) workloads.
According to the government’s Department of Trade and Industry, AI is expected to contribute 12% to the Philippines’ GDP (around US$92 billion) by 2030. Statista forecasts the Philippine AI industry to grow from US$772 million now to US$3.5 billion by 2030 at a CAGR of 28.57%.
Malana also said STT GDC Philippines aims to leverage its expanded capacity and local market experience to attract major cloud service providers.
“Our designs are built around the current and future requirements of hyperscalers, and our ability to deliver on our commitments is underpinned by the ongoing development of local technical talent,” he said.
STT GDC Philippines is also building a second facility in its STT Cavite data centre campus southwest of Manila. With a gross floor area of over 4,500 square metres and a design capacity of up to 6MW, STT Cavite 2 is scheduled to begin operations in mid-2025.
