Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) invited the public to submit their input on the “Light Licensing Regulations for the 6 GHz Frequency Band”. In an effort to enhance innovation in wireless technologies and optimize the use of radio spectrum. Through this document, CST seeks to support the development of digital infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, stimulate emerging wireless technologies, and enable various sectors to adopt the latest technological innovations.
The document contains a comprehensive regulatory framework for managing the 6 GHz frequency spectrum, relying on modern dynamic database analysis to support high-power (WLAN) networks operating outdoor. Additionally, it outlines the eligibility to operate the Automatic Frequency Coordination (AFC) systems, and the terms and conditions that must be adhered to by beneficiaries from the light licensing.
It is expected that approving this regulation will contribute to the growth of the digital economy, and enhance the digital infrastructure by adopting modern methods of managing the frequency spectrum more effectively, which creates an environment that stimulates innovation and drives the digital development in Saudi Arabia.
It is noteworthy that in August, CST approved and published the Light Licensing Regulations of the Radio Spectrum, which defines the general framework for the light licensing in Saudi Arabia.
As part of its commitment in achieving transparency and involving all relevant parties, CST has urged interested parties to provide their input and suggestions no later than November 20 2024, through its official website: https://regulations.citc.gov.sa.
