Pargo, a South African smart logistics company specializing in e-commerce delivery solutions, has announced its expansion into Egypt with the launch of over 500 “Pargo Points” across the country. This move is supported by a US$4 million funding round led by 3Capital Ventures, Endeavor, SAAD Investment Holdings, and UW Ventures.
Pargo offers a unique approach to e-commerce delivery by leveraging a network of tech-enabled Pargo Points, typically located in convenient retail locations. This allows online shoppers to collect or return their parcels at a time and place that suits them, addressing the challenges of last-mile delivery in regions with limited addressing infrastructure.
“Egypt is one of the most exciting e-commerce markets in Africa, and we are thrilled to bring our Collect and Returns services here,” said Lars Veul, CEO of Pargo. “Our mission is simple: create an affordable ecommerce delivery solution to increase access to the 500 million online shoppers across Africa that e-commerce companies currently struggle to service.”
Pargo’s expansion into Egypt follows a successful pilot program in 2023, which demonstrated strong demand for its services. The company has partnered with major e-commerce players like Noon, the leading fashion and lifestyle platform in the Middle East, to offer its services to a wider audience.
Recognizing the importance of cash payments in Egypt, Pargo has also introduced a “Cash on Collection” option, allowing customers to pay for their orders when they collect their parcels. This caters to the specific needs of the Egyptian market and further enhances the convenience of Pargo’s services.
“Our focus is to provide an unmatched shopping experience by bringing our Collect and Returns solution to more Egyptian consumers,” said Abdelmalek Shamsi, Pargo’s managing director in Egypt. “With partners like Noon, and a strong pipeline of interested companies, we are well-positioned to capture this market’s tremendous potential.”
With ambitious plans to expand its network to 7,000 Pickup Points across the region by 2026, Pargo is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of e-commerce logistics in Africa and the Middle East.Sources and related content
