Sky Switzerland is working closely with Zattoo as a lighthouse customer for its newly launched suite of stream API services on the pay-TV broadcaster’s platform, supporting applications, frontends and devices in the IPTV market.
Stream API, which enables operators to take advantage of next-generation streaming solutions, was recently launched and demonstrated at IBC 2024 in Amsterdam. It includes features such as Advertising API, Playback SDK, and Playback Telemetry and is engineered to address the multifaceted demands of contemporary streaming.
Underpinning these custom-built Stream API applications and services is Zattoo’s carrier-grade, fully managed head-end and video platform, and a European content distribution network, ensuring streaming quality, according to Zattoo, adding that, built on two decades of technological expertise, it’s Europe’s largest, fastest growing and most utilised unicast content distribution and delivery platform.
“We’re excited to team up with Sky on this innovative path, shaping new possibilities in the future IPTV market and unlocking new revenue opportunities for our customers,” said Bert Schulzki, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Zattoo. “We’re dedicated to continuing to expand our platform, which has proven innovation, stability, accessibility and reliability at its core, providing a roadmap for companies to navigate technological complexities and achieving outstanding business outcomes.“
Nicolas Stefani, CTO, Sky Switzerland, added: “Collaboration is an important part of meeting next generation goals and together with Zattoo we’re breaking technological streaming boundaries. Zattoo is a leader in this field with many years experience and this latest offering enables operators like ourselves to expand monetisation opportunities using dynamic workflows, whilst providing audiences with tailored services that intensify viewing satisfaction, thereby creating deeper engagement.”
