HD+ launches IP TV stick

German TV platform HD+ will offer a TV stick for television reception via the internet from mid-September 2024.

The Android stick, plugged into the HDMI slot of the TV set and connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, brings over 100 HD channels to the screen, including interactive functions such as pause, restart, a media library search and EPG. Streaming apps such as Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video can be accessed via the Google Play store. Navigation is via the supplied remote control.

HD+ sees the TV stick, available from local retailers and the HD+ web shop, primarily as an alternative to cable TV or DTT and as a solution for second or third TV sets in households.

“With the HD+ IP TV stick, we are consistently continuing our product offensive. Our aim is to enable all TV households in Germany to watch television with modern functions – flexibly, individually, simply and affordably, just as satellite TV households can already experience today with the HD+ TV app,” said Andreas Müller-Vondey, Managing Director of HD Plus, adding that the stick not only offers tenants an interesting alternative, but also turns second or third TV sets for example in the bedroom into smart entertainment devices.

The HD+ IP TV stick will be sold for the recommended retail price of €69. The price includes three months of HD+ IP. At the end of the free period, customers can continue to use the offer for €6 per month; the subscription can be cancelled monthly. With the additional product HD+ MultiScreen, the stick can also be used in other EU countries – in addition to two further streams, for example for the smartphone or tablet.
