Hong Kong-based global ICT service provider and network operator HGC Global Communications (HGC) announced that it has launched a data centre interconnect (DCI) solution in Bangkok.
HGC said that its DCI solution – which will initially interconnect seven major data centres in Bangkok – will facilitate swift interconnections for rapid and consistent data transfer across locations.
According to HGC, this will simplify network implementation complexities and offer flexibility for enterprise, service providers and OUT players to interconnect with diverse data centres. The DCI solution also delivers lower latencies by minimizing the number of nodes between data centres, HGC added.
Cliff Tam, senior VP of Global Data Strategy & Operations for HGC’s international business, said HGC aims to extend its footprint in Thailand, fostering growth and enhancing its service in the market as more enterprises look to establish a presence there.
“Our goal is to provide comprehensive and premium connectivity solutions, creating an ecosystem that serves as a one-stop-shop for enterprises, service providers and OTTs seeking accessible and high-quality connectivity services,” he said in a statement.
The move comes as Bangkok is emerging as a key location for data traffic, while Thailand jockeys for position with Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines to establish itself as a key data centre hub in Southeast Asia.
At the start of this year, five data centre players – AIMS Data Centre, Evolution DC, NTT Global Data Centers, STT GDC and Telehouse – banded together to form the Thailand Data Centre Council (TDCC), which aims to promote the data centre sector as a mission-critical industry and establish a network of digital infrastructure service providers in Thailand.
