Vodafone and 1&1 have announced that they are launching a national roaming partnership, having signed an official contract, Last year, both network operators had agreed in a preliminary contract to work together, starting in the summer of 2024. Under this partnership, new 1&1 customers will be able to access Vodafone's mobile network, starting from the 29th of August.
Before this, customers of 1&1 5G network would be switched over to Telefonica's network where there is no coverage under the former's network. Now, as part of the partnership, 1&1 will deliver all national roaming services via Vodafone's network. According to 1&1, the network switchovers happen automatically and will not be noticeable for users.
Existing 1&1 customers will also be able to use the 1&1 5G network together with Vodafone National Roaming in the future. To this end, 1&1 will gradually migrate the mobile phone tariffs of its customers by autumn 2025.
