Ooredoo to advance Qatar’s quantum communication technology

Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator, has committed 2.8 million Qatari Riyals ($768K USD) to support Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Qatar Centre for Quantum Computing (QC2) in developing the country’s first quantum communication testbed. This initiative aims to establish a secure quantum communication system that surpasses classical cryptographic methods, ensuring 100% security. The testbed will lay the groundwork for Qatar’s future Quantum Internet, positioning the nation as a leader in quantum communication technology in the region.

This collaboration underscores Qatar’s commitment to technological innovation and its goal of becoming a regional hub for advanced quantum technologies. The project is expected to attract international investors and industry experts, boosting the local economy. Ooredoo’s involvement not only supports the development of secure communication infrastructure but also strengthens Qatar’s position as a pioneer in adopting cutting-edge technologies.
