Banglalink, Bangladesh’s third-largest mobile operator, recorded its highest revenue growth in a decade in 2023, thanks to a substantial increase in data revenue. According to Veon Ltd’s fourth-quarter earnings report, Banglalink’s revenue surged by an impressive 14.4 percent year-on-year, reaching Tk 6,150 crore.
The company’s data revenue saw a significant 25 percent year-on-year growth in 2023, reflecting Banglalink’s aggressive expansion strategy. This strategy included a notable increase in its 4G customer base, the successful execution of the DO1440 strategy—aimed at engaging with customers every minute of the day—and extensive enhancements to its nationwide network.
As of December 2023, Banglalink’s customer base expanded to 43.5 million, with a 24.5 percent growth in its 4G user base, reaching 20 million subscribers. The operator also doubled its network coverage, increasing the number of towers to over 16,000.
Digital services like the MyBL Super App, Toffee, and Bip played a crucial role in this growth. The MyBL Super App, in particular, saw its monthly active user base grow by 36.4 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2023, reaching nearly 8 million users.
“Banglalink’s double-digit revenue growth signifies our path defined by innovation, trust, and excellence,” said Erik Aas, CEO of Banglalink.
