Viaplay rolls out ad supported tier

Viaplay has introduced a new HVOD (Hybrid Video on Demand) tier for its Swedish customers.

The streaming service is charging a monthly SEK 99 (€8.50) for the tier, though is currently promoting a SEK 49 offer for the first two months. It hopes the combination of subscription and advertising will provide customers with greater flexibility.

“By presenting our fantastic content in a new affordable package, Viaplay becomes accessible and relevant to an even larger audience. We look forward to the autumn’s exciting launches, which the audience will now also be able to enjoy on HVOD,” said Christian Albeck , co-CEO of Viaplay Group in Sweden.

“The HVOD subscription includes a range of local and international titles, such as Efterlyst, Svenska fall and Lyxfällan as well as Viaplay’s drama series Allt och Eva, Börje – The Journey of a Legend and Strandhotellet. A selection of American documentaries, films and series are also covered. Including all seasons of Outlander and titles like John Wick, Bad Boys, SWAT and The Equalizer.”

The HVOD tier rolled out in Denmark in June.
