MTN Benin contracted NuRAN Wireless for 200 sites to deploy 2G, 3G and 4G in rural locations across Benin.
In a statement, NuRAN Wireless announced the five-year Network-as-a-Service agreement with MTN Benin places the infrastructure vendor now in eight countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The contract was signed as part of the Group Framework Agreement, a partnership NuRAN signed with MTN in 2022 pledging to deploy sites in rural areas across the Middle East and Africa.
NuRAN stated it expects to retain ownership of the sites upon completion of the contract which increases the value of the deal. The vendor has 5,092 total sites across its portfolio with the aim to more than double this figure in five years.
The vendor also received US$2.5 million from the Facility for Energy Inclusion fund, and as a result the company will resume its rollout plan. The majority of the cash will be dedicated to Cameroon, the company expects to dedicate a portion to initiate site builds in the Ivory Coast, Benin and Madagascar as well as to deliver sites already in inventory in South Sudan.
