Executive Chairman & CEO
Podium Co.

During my tenure on the Board of Batelco, I served as Vice Chairman of the Board and was a key instigator of change that started with the first MNO acquisition in a new geography. In addition, I worked very closely with management to develop the future strategy of the Group that called for further acquisitions in order to offset the declining revenues that were facing the home market operation. The Group acquired a stake in a new geography but stalled in acquiring any further operations due to the high prices at the time. When I took responsibility for the Group management as Group CEO and stepped down as Vice Chairman of the Board, I lead management in negotiating the last transaction for Batelco by acquiring most of the Cable and Wireless Island portfolio, which today provides the Group with stable revenues due to the high barriers to entry into these Islands.

I am a true believer of strong corporate governance and transparency. During my time as Group CEO for Batelco, I initiated a quarterly conference call with market analysts where my CFO gave a full presentation of the quarterly numbers and I covered any operational questions. This gave very strong confidence to our investor base and made it very easy when time came to raise the first international bond to finance our balance sheet. Along with my team, we traveled on a road show to sell our bond that took us to markets in the far east like Hong Kong and Singapore and Europe like London. The bond issue was very successful and many times over subscribed.
